Hubert S. Fisher

Hubert Sherman Fisher, 82, of Mill Hall passed away Monday morning March 12, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

He was born January 6, 1936, in Salona a son of Russell and Flossie (Jierles) Fisher.  He was employed by Textron Avco Lycoming Motors for over 43 years.  He married the former Joanne Truax on July 1, 1961 and she survives.  Hubert was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Avis and currently a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore.  He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and soccer.  Hubert was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Besides his loving wife of 56 years, Joanne, Hubert is survived by three daughters, Lisa Riggle (Lorraine Lewis) of Castanea, Angela (Eldon) Phillips of Renovo and Dawn (Brian) McCloskey of Lock Haven.  Hubert was very proud of all his girls and nothing pleased him more than to be able to attend whatever sports events or band performances they were involved in.  One of his greatest pleasures was to do things with his seven grandchildren, Steve Riggle, Brian McCloskey, Ty McCloskey, Ashley Karstetter, Rachael Lehman, Emily Riggle and Katlyn Lightcap.  He loved each and every one of them.  Then came his great grandchildren and oh how he loved them and in return they adored him: Kenidi Hasben, Emerson Hasben, Rhett Lehman and Owen Karstetter.

Many nieces and nephews who all thought there was no one like “Uncle Fish” or the “Old Man”.  He is further survived by his siblings Russell of Oval, Louella of Flemington, Richard of Lock Haven and Maxine of Coudersport Pike.  He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Hubert will be greatly missed by many family members and lots of friends and several young people whom he thought of as his adopted boys and girls.

Hubert’s Life Tribute will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2 pm at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad Street, Jersey Shore with his Pastor Rev. Dr. Kerry Aucker officiating.  Friends and family are invited to his visitation at the church from 1 pm until the time of the service.
