Evelyn (Nind) Barnes

TOMBS RUN - Evelyn Nind Barnes, 92, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Gate House Hospice in Williamsport.

She was born February 20, 1925 in Worcester, England, a daughter of Thomas and Susan Hanley Nind.  She was the wife of the late Lester Forbes Barnes who passed June 11, 1987.  Early in her life she was a Licensed Practical Nurse and later a homemaker and mother caring for her 3 daughters.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Williamsport.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing, travel, camping and the beach.

Evelyn’s survivors include her 3 daughters; Susan K. Barnes of Towanda, Joan Barnes-Confer (Donald) of Tombs Run, and Victoria Barnes-Lewis (David) of Shippensburg; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren along with 2 grand daughters-in-law and several nephews and nieces in England.

In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, her Life Tribute Services and interment will be held privately at her family’s convenience from Trinity Episcopal Church in Williamsport with her Priest, Rev. Kenneth E. Wagner-Pizza, celebrant.  Memorial contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA  17740.
