JERSEY SHORE - Calvin L. Whitton Sr., 87, of Jersey Shore in the Pine Creek area, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at his home with his family by his side.  A lifetime resident of Jersey Shore, Calvin was born September 10, 1929, the son of the late Ike Prince and Helen (Smith) Whitton.  He married June J. (Koch) on January 28, 1950 and they shared 62 years of marriage until her passing October 12, 2012.

For over 30 years, Calvin was employed at Hon Industries, in Williamsport (formerly known as Rishel’s).  Calvin was a quiet, kind soul who very rarely raised his voice to anyone; he was known by all who loved him as a strong, independent, genuinely “Good Man” who loved his family very much.  Calvin enjoyed anything that had to do with being outdoors, such as gardening, hunting, fishing and he shared his love of these activities with his family.  He loved going to the Potter County family hunting camp that was built almost 100 years ago. His favorite indoor pastime was watching old western movies, especially John Wayne movies.

Calvin is survived by 5 grandchildren, Kelli Ann (Jeff) Markley, Bobbi Jo (Keith) Lewis , Jason (Traci) Whitton, Candice Yeagle and Dan (Danielle) Winkleman; 9 great grandchildren, Aleshia and Ryan Lewis, Riley and Reagan Markley, Travis, Heaven and Landon Yeagle, Calvin and Logan Whitton; also his son in law, Albert (Joyce) Winkleman, Sr. of Jersey Shore.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son Calvin L. Whitton, Jr., and his daughter Patty Jo Winkleman.

There will be a viewing for family and friends at 9 AM Saturday, March 25, 2017, with a funeral service at 10 AM at the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore.  Pastor Kenneth Weiss will officiate. Burial immediately following the service will be at Twin Hills Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Road, Muncy.

The family would like to extend a special Thank you, to Joyce Moyer and Hospice for the love and care they provided to him.
